Aerogel/PTFE composite insulating material

Aerogel/PTFE composite insulation for moisture-permeable thermal garments is now open for faster, royalty-light licensing-free design.

What it is

The technology combines an aerogel (a highly porous solid that traps air) with PTFE to create an insulating composite that balances low thermal conductivity, flexibility, and moisture permeability. Aerogels can drastically cut heat transfer compared with conventional foams, enabling thinner, lighter insulation layers. Before expiration, manufacturers typically needed licenses or paid royalty terms to use the specific aerogel/PTFE composite approach for apparel insulation.

What you could build

Launch lightweight winter outerwear and technical uniforms using aerogel/PTFE insulation without negotiating legacy composite patent licenses.
