Elevator Pitch

Current carbon removal technologies are insufficient to meet climate targets. A significant scaling challenge exists, demanding innovative solutions to remove gigatons of CO2 to mitigate climate change.

Full Description

The scientific consensus indicates that even with immediate cessation of all greenhouse gas emissions, the planet will still require substantial removal of existing atmospheric carbon dioxide to avert catastrophic climate change. Projections suggest that current carbon removal capacities are orders of magnitude too small to address the scale of the problem.

The challenge affects every global citizen and business, as the consequences of inaction include rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and ecosystem collapse. The market opportunity lies in developing and deploying carbon removal solutions that can operate at a scale of millions of times their current capacity.

Existing approaches, while valuable, are not yet capable of achieving the necessary scale. This includes natural solutions like reforestation, which have limitations in land availability and permanence, and technological solutions that are often energy-intensive, costly, and not yet deployable at the required gigaton-per-year level. A breakthrough is needed to make carbon removal economically viable and logistically feasible at a planetary scale.
