Full Description

YC's argument is that software keeps bringing to everyone what only the rich could once afford. As recently as 2009 a private driver was a luxury; Uber, and now Waymo, made it widely available. The author recalls learning, while working on what became Google Photos, that rich people paid humans to edit, label and organize their photos, work his team then built AI to automate for billions of people.

Wealthy people still employ human staff for personal services: tax accountants, personal lawyers, money managers, personal trainers, private tutors and even personal doctors. YC says software couldn't handle this kind of personalized knowledge work until now, and expects AI to be good enough to do most of these jobs within the next few years.

The ask: startups bringing part of this "personal AI staff" to every person on the planet.
