Full Description
Data center demand is insatiable, but new sites take years to approve and win power, and can be blocked locally.
The idea: The ocean covers 70% of the Earth, has abundant sunlight, no land permitting and is an enormous natural heat sink. "Compute flotillas" of many standardized, modular vessels could operate together as one global cloud.
YC wants to fund founders bringing the world's compute to the oceans.
