Full Description
YC wants to fund startups with a real need to employ a million workers, in jobs that specifically need humans and where there is no structural need for AI to do the work.
YC notes that big technological shifts have always moved people into new kinds of work. Machinery meant far fewer farmers, and jobs like elevator operator and typist faded. YC says the new careers often have better working conditions and are more helpful to humanity.
Where it applies: in an AI-driven world, YC suggests these could be tools that help more people run their own local businesses, or earn a living by providing services to other people, online or offline.
The ask: founders with an answer to a question YC says many AI futurists are unsure about: what are the careers of the future?
