Elevator Pitch

About 1.5 billion students are educated each year in ways that have barely changed for decades. YC thinks AI can reshape teaching, learning and assessment, if founders can crack the business model.

Full Description

YC calls education one of the world's largest and most important industries, and one of the hardest to disrupt: about 100 million people work in it and about 1.5 billion students are educated every year, largely the same way as decades ago.

Why now: large language models could widen access, personalize instruction and free teachers and learners from drudgery. Personalized study tools for students and grading platforms for teachers are starting to appear, but YC says it's still very early.

The hard part: the business model. More than a billion people are in education, but budgets are tight and purchasing cycles are slow.

The ask: founders rethinking how education works. YC finds it impossible to believe education will look the same 10 or 20 years from now.
