About This Fellowship

The Google.org Impact Challenge: AI for Science is a $30 million global open call designed to empower researchers and organizations with the funding, tools, and technical expertise they need to accelerate scientific breakthroughs using artificial intelligence.

Selected organizations receive between $500K and $3M in funding and can participate in the Google.org Accelerator, gaining access to pro bono technical support from Google's AI engineers. The challenge targets moonshot-scale research where AI can be a decisive catalyst — from drug discovery to climate modeling to materials science.

This program is particularly notable for its scale and ambition. As highlighted by Google's Divy Thakkar, the funding amounts are substantial enough to push forward genuinely transformative research, making it one of the most significant AI-for-science funding opportunities available globally.
