Full Description
In the 1980s a small group of funds started using computers to analyze markets. It seemed silly then; quantitative trading is now obvious. YC thinks we're at a similar point, and that the next Renaissance, Bridgewater or D.E. Shaw will be built on AI.
Why now: the biggest funds have been slow to adapt. The author, a former quant researcher at one of them, asked compliance for permission to use ChatGPT and never got a response.
The ask: an AI-native hedge fund that uses AI to come up with entirely new strategies, with swarms of agents doing what traders do now: combing through 10-Ks, earnings calls and SEC filings, synthesizing analyst ideas and making trades.
