Elevator Pitch
YC thinks robotics is close to its GPT moment as foundation models give robots human-level perception and judgment. It wants robots, and tools to build them, with B2B uses first.

Full Description
YC says robotics hasn't had its GPT moment yet but is close. YC has followed robotics for two decades; one of its founders, Trevor Blackwell, built the first dynamically balancing bipedal robot.
Earlier generations of robots were expensive and brittle and needed controlled conditions. YC argues that fast-improving foundation models now make human-level perception and judgment possible, which was the missing piece.
Where it applies: YC sees B2B uses as overlooked and the most immediately addressable, especially industrial and farm work. It cites Gecko Robotics (W16), which builds inspection robots, and Bear Flag Robotics (W18), which builds autonomous tractors and was acquired by John Deere.
The ask: robots themselves, and software tools that help other people make robots.
