Elevator Pitch

Selling to government is hard, but YC argues AI can now automate much of its admin work. It wants startups that cut spending and make public services faster.

Full Description

YC calls selling software to the government notoriously hard, but says the prize is huge. It names Palantir as one of the only startups to crack it, with a market cap YC put at $125 billion when it wrote this request.

Why now: YC pointed to a high deficit and hopes that the government would cut spending and run more efficiently. At the same time, AI had become strong enough to automate administrative work the government spends billions of dollars a year on. YC says LLMs are especially good at rote tasks like filling out forms, reviewing applications and summarizing documents.

The ask: AI software that automates government work, lowering spending and making government more efficient. For citizens, YC writes, "imagine never having to wait in line at the DMV again."
