Full Description
YC is backing a growing number of hardware companies, including medical devices, home robots and space, but building hardware in the US is still far slower than in China. The real gap is iteration speed: in Shenzhen, dense supplier networks and close links between design and production can turn a drawing into a physical part within a day; in the US that often takes weeks. A few startups are building pieces (YC cites Hlabs and Prototyping.io), but the overall stack is missing.
The ask: startups that produce parts much faster, enable rapid iteration, and tightly integrate design, manufacturing and logistics.
