Full Description

Stablecoins are digital currencies pegged to an outside reference, usually the US dollar. Transactions are recorded on a ledger, usually a blockchain, so they can move between wallets at any hour, settle in seconds and cost a fraction of traditional finance fees.

YC says its companies have used stablecoins for years for cross-border payments, to cut fees and fraud, and to protect savings from hyperinflation. It noted that PayPal had issued its own stablecoin and major banks had started offering custody. YC compares the moment to digital music, where Spotify outmatched bigger players like Apple.

At the time, YC counted $136 billion in stablecoins issued and about seven million people who had used them, against more than half a billion people living with 30%+ inflation and $17 trillion in US bank deposits.

The ask: B2B and consumer products on stablecoins, tools and platforms for stablecoin finance, and new stablecoin protocols.
