Perplexity Research Residency

Perplexity's Research Residency is their flagship program for bringing the best research talent across all disciplines to advance AI. Unlike traditional AI residencies that require deep learning expertise, Perplexity actively recruits from diverse fields — theoretical physics, cognitive science, biochemistry, quantitative finance, mathematics, philosophy, and beyond.

Residents are compensated at $220K/year (prorated to the 3-month term, ~$55K), with comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance plus a 401(k) plan. The program is based in San Francisco with a 4-day in-office requirement.

Perplexity provides visa sponsorship based on individual circumstances, making this accessible to international researchers. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with no fixed deadline — residents should expect to begin within 8 weeks of acceptance.
